Wholesale electricity prices are picking up again

Wholesale electricity prices in Austria are rising sharply again. For July 2022, prices have more than tripled (+225.9 percent) year-on-year. Compared to the previous month of June, an increase of 13.2 percent is seen, according to the electricity price index (ÖSPI) of the Austrian Energy Agency. From May to June, wholesale electricity prices rose by a comparatively low 4.0 percent, after a strong 20 percent a month earlier.
