In Sweden, the electricity market report from online site Ny Teknik shows that the average spot market electricity price in southern area 4 amounted to SEK 1.39 (EUR 0.13 USD 0.14) per kWh in May 2022. This was an increase of SEK 0.25 from April, and the third highest figure recorded since the electricity areas were introduced in 2011. In area 3, the average price increased from SEK 0.89 in April to SEK 1.03 in May. The price increased to SEK 0.58 per kWh in northern areas 1 and 2, an increase of SEK 0.04 from April. Total Swedish electricity consumption amounted to around 10,000 GWh in May, slightly less than the average for the month. Production exceeded consumption in May. About 98% of production was fossil-free.
