Ossiomo Power in Benin City has inaugurated a 40-megawatts independent power plant built to provide power to the Benin Industrial and Enterprise Park as well as the outlying local communities in Ologbo, Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo State.

Speaking with journalists during the inauguration of the project, the Managing Director, Ossiomo Power, Dr Uwa Igiehon, said the project was executed with support by the state government, according to a statement.

According to him, the power plant is providing 24/7 power to Ologbo and Obayantor communities in the area.

Igiohon said the project underscored the resolve of Governor Godwin Obaseki towards providing regular power supply across the length and breadth of Edo State.

According to the statement, the Benin Enterprise Park is a 997-hectare, mixed-use, development designed to accommodate light industries and residential zones.

It said the park would be equipped with civil infrastructure, comprising graded plots, roads, power, water, communications, drainage, sewage treatment plant, effluent treatment plant, stormwater drains, rainwater harvesting, and firefighting facilities, among others.

It said the park would also have specialised infrastructure, such as quality control labs, quality certification centres, raw material storage, and other warehousing and logistics services.

"The 40MW plant was tested on 29th of December and is fully operational. At the moment, the plant is providing electricity to Ologbo and Obayantor communities in the area," Igiehon added.
