Polish cabinet standing committee approves easing onshore wind farm location rules

    June 13, 2022 - Zylinska Julita

"[The climate ministry} would like the government to finalize works on this bill as soon as possible and pass it to the Parliament," while the next stage for the much awaited bill will be consideration by the committee for legal affairs, Brzozka said.

Mid-April, deputy Climate Minister Piotr Dziadzio said that Poland may relax the existing restrictions on wind farm locations still in 2022.

The current law forbids erecting new wind farms in locations whose distance to nearest housing is less than 10x the height of wind farm installation. The new law is expected to offer exceptions to that strict rule, while retaining the rule itself.
