Celsia orders 369 MW of Nordex wind turbines for Colombia projects

    June 16, 2022 - SeeNews Renewables

June 16 (Renewables Now) - Latin American power producer and distributor Celsia SA has ordered 369 MW of wind turbines from Germany's Nordex SE (ETR:NDX1) for three projects in Colombia.

Nordex announced today that the order includes the supply of 63 units of the N155 turbines, and a five-year premium service contract for turbine maintenance, with an option to extend it for another five years.

Celsia will use 16 pieces of the N155/5.X turbines for the Acacia II wind farm project, 45 N155/5.X machines for the Camelias project and two N155/4.8 units for the Carreto scheme, the German manufacturer said.

Acacia II and Camelias were successful in Colombia’s renewable energy auction in 2019, securing power purchase agreements (PPAs) for 767 GWh of electricity per year, Celsia announced at the time. These two wind farms will be located in the department of La Guajira, while Carreto will be installed in Atlantico.

Installation works are slated to commence in the spring of 2023. Nordex expects to see the wind farms completed during the same year, saying that by then it will have 594 MW of installed wind capacity in Colombia.

In 2020, the turbine maker secured a sizable order from an undisclosed customer for a wind project in Colombia.
