June 21 (Renewables Now) - Global Energy Services (GES), a Spanish construction company, announced on Monday that it has been awarded a contract to build 129 MWp of solar farms in Spain's Huelva province.
The job was awarded by Madrid-based platform Matrix Renewables, a company backed by asset manager TPG.
GES is to provide a full scope of services for the Rocio I, II and III projects, including design, engineering, the supply of equipment and materials, civil and electrical construction works, commissioning, testing and energisation.
The trio of solar farms will be equipped with 239,250 panels, occupying 225.43 hectares (557 acres) of land in the Almonte municipality.
GES expects to energise the photovoltaic (PV) facilities in the first quarter of 2023. Once online, they will be capable of generating 276,000 MWh per year, enough to meet the annual consumption of 80,000 local households, the contractor added.
