Everfuel, Greenstat secure grant for 20-MW electrolyser in Norway

    June 24, 2022 - SeeNews Renewables

June 23 (Renewables Now) - Denmark’s Everfuel A/S (FRA:0HR) and Norway’s Greenstat AS have been awarded a NOK 148 million (USD 14.8m/EUR 14.1m) grant by Norwegian government enterprise Enova to develop Hydrogen Hub Agde in Kristiansand, Norway.

The project includes the construction of a 20-MW electrolyser at the Elkem Fiskaa industrial compound near the harbour and is mainly aimed at providing renewable fuel to the shipping industry.

Planning will start immediately, with the hub expected to begin operations in the fourth quarter of 2024. A second phase, targeted to be commissioned in 2027, will expand the PtX facility to a 60-MW electrolyser.

The pair will develop the hub in collaboration with industrial companies Elkem ASA (FRA:1DP) and Glencore Nikkelverk.

Besides the shipping segment, the partners are looking at offtake opportunities in the construction industry, trucking mobility, refuse services, taxi fleets and providing green energy supplies to industrial clients. Everfuel and Greenstat have signed letters of intent with clients for more than 8,000 tonnes of compressed hydrogen per year.
