The US Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) has issued the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for the Ocean Wind 1 offshore wind farm. Ocean Wind 1 is a 1100 MW facility made by Orsted and Public Service Enterprise Group (PSEG). It is positioned 15 miles (24 km) off the coast of Southern New Jersey, US. The release of DEIS served as a crucial step for the project in the federal review process and comes after the technical assessments and multi-agency coordination from 2021. The US state is said to joining BOEM and the developers, as the project proceeds to the next step at the federal level. The wind farm will be the first of its kind off the New Jersey coast. It would offer economic benefits totalling $1.17 bn and create thousands of new positions in the state. The BOEM would release the 'Notice of Availability' on 24 Jun 2022, indicating the beginning of a 45-day public comment period ending on 8 Aug 2022. The Final EIS is anticipated in Mar 2023, while the Record of Decision is by Apr 2023. Original Source: NS Energy, http://www.nsenergybusiness.com.
