Boralex commissions 53 MW of onshore wind capacity in France

    June 30, 2022 - SeeNews Renewables

June 30 (Renewables Now) - Canada-based power producer Boralex Inc (TSE:BLX) on Thursday announced the commissioning of three wind parks in France with a combined capacity of 53 MW, which are expanding the company’s total in the country to 1.1 GW.

The three wind farms are all located in the commune of Louville-la-Chenard, in the Eure-et-Loir department of the Centre-Val de Loire region. Boralex implemented the projects simultaneously and while two of them involved repowering, the third plant represents an extension.

More specifically, the company has repowered the Remise de Reclainville and Evits et Josaphat wind farms, each of which now consists of six Nordex N117 turbines and have their capacities expanded from 12 MW to 14 MW.

“Wind farm repowering is an integral part of our strategy. To date, we have repowered and upgraded every one of our sites that has reached the end of its service life,” commented Nicolas Wolff, Vice President and General Manager of Boralex, Europe.

At the same time, Boralex has commissioned a new-built, 25-MW facility known as the Bois des Fontaines wind farm. It comprises seven Nordex turbines of the same model.

Together, the three wind parks will generate some 138 GWh annually.
