UAE delegation heads to Germany for clean energy talks

    June 30, 2022 - Abdul Rawuf

An Emirati delegation headed to Germany to discuss cooperation between the two countries in the field of clean energy.

Headed by the UAE's undersecretary of the ministry of energy and infrastructure for energy and petroleum affairs, Sharif Al Olama, the state visit aims to promote efforts between the two countries in drafting policies in areas that promote renewable and clean energy, state news agency Wam has reported.

"The Emirati-German partnership has helped achieve the objectives of the clean energy transition and supported the efforts of both sides to draft projects and initiatives in line with the Paris Climate Agreement," he said.

The UAE delegation met with Patrick Graichen, state secretary at the German federal ministry of economic affairs and climate action, where they talked about new frameworks of cooperation in the hydrogen sector.

They also visited German utility provider 50Hertz Transmission GmbH in eastern Germany, meeting with its CEO to discuss ways to integrate renewable energy systems into the energy network.

The two countries launched a partnership in 2017 to promote discussions about energy security, and to create a framework for cooperation in energy transition.
