Vestas nabs 347 MW of wind turbine contracts in Brazil

July 1 (Renewables Now) - Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) has received orders to deliver its equipment for 347 MW of wind farm projects in Brazil.

Brazilian renewable energy company PEC Energia SA has awarded a contract for 86 MW of Vestas' V150-4.5 MW turbines, 19 in total, to equip the Serra das Vacas wind park in the state of Pernambuco. The order from the subsidiary of Engeform Energia Renovavel also includes a 25-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service deal.

The turbines will be delivered and commissioned in 2024, Vestas estimates.

In turn, EDF Renewables Brazil, a unit of French utility EDF (EPA:EDF), has contracted Vestas to supply 261 MW of total capacity for the Serra das Almas wind project in the state of Bahia.

The Danish firm will deliver and install a total of 58 units of its V150-4.5 MW turbines. The agreement also includes a 28-year Active Output Management 4000 (AOM 4000) service contract, the company's longest in the country.

All wind turbines will be locally produced under the Brazilian Development Bank's (BNDES) FINAME rules, Vestas said.
