    enercity pushes expansion of renewables: New wind farm planned in Saxony

      Thanks to enercity, even more wind power will be produced in the brown coal region of northern Upper Lusatia in the future: a new wind farm with up to 33 wind turbines will be built near the municipality of Schleife (Sorbian: Slepo).       200 megawatts of wind power in two sections

      The project in the Saxon district of Görlitz comprises two construction phases. Initially, four wind turbines with a total output of 24 megawatts (MW) will be built on the Hochkippe, where the current regional planning has identified locations suitable for wind. The second, larger construction phase includes 29 wind turbines in the forest with a total capacity of 174 MW. These areas, which cover around 900 hectares, have yet to be designated as suitable wind sites by the regional planning authorities.

In the future, in addition to the wind farm expansion, a wood-fired power plant including food production and heat storage is to be built. A consortium plans to invest 500 million euros.
