Germany adds 3.2 GW of solar, 1 GW of onshore wind in H1 2022

    August 1, 2022 - SeeNews Renewables

August 1 (Renewables Now) - Solar power systems with a combined capacity of 573.8 MW went online in Germany in June, bringing the solar capacity installed in the country in the first half of the year to 3.2 GW.

New solar power installations in June were above the level of the previous two months but were below the year's record high of 735.3 MW deployed in March, the Federal Network Agency said over the weekend.

More than half of the new solar capacity, or 364.5 MW, were plants connected to the grid outside of EEG tenders. Of these, only 6.78 MW were ground-mounted systems.

The deployment of onshore wind power in Germany slowed down again in June when wind turbines with a total capacity of 199.65 MW were connected to the grid.

In the first six months of the year, new onshore wind additions in Germany reached about 1.05 GW.

Biomass-fired power plants with a combined capacity of 1.85 MW entered operation in June, boosting the January-June installations to 12.46 MW.
