Stage 4 load-shedding will be implemented during the peak hours of Thursday evening.
This comes after Eskom implemented stage 2 earlier this week, which was expected to end on Friday.
The power utility said load-shedding will increase from 16:00 on Thursday until midnight.
Eskom spokesperson Sikhonathi Mantshantsha said stage 2 will, however, still be effective before 16:00.
"It is anticipated that stage 2 will be implemented from 05:00 until midnight on Friday," he said.
"This load-shedding will also assist in recovering emergency generation reserves, which have been utilised extensively to meet the increased demand over the last few days."
The power utility said the status of load shedding over the weekend will be dependent on returning generation units to service.
