Greenspot Receives Approval For 500MW/1GWh Battery Storage System In Australia

News: The New South Wales Department of Planning and Environment has approved Greenspot's plans to develop a 500MW/1GWh battery energy storage system on the site of the old Wallerawang Power Station, near Lithgow, Australia. Called Wallerawang 9, the facility will come up on 6.2sq km site and is estimated to cost AUD400mn (USD277.4mn). The battery will be connected to the adjacent 330kV Wallerawang Substation, according to a press release from Greenspot.
