Finland: Electricity prices to peak at end of 2022, slump in spring 2023: expert

    August 8, 2022 - M-Brain Nordic News

Based on the futures prices of electricity, the price of electricity will triple in Finland by the end of 2022, but will drop sharply in spring 2023. Risto Kuusi, senior expert at Fingrid, estimated that electricity may cost an average of almost EUR 50 per kWh by the end of 2022, but will drop to EUR 0.18 per kWh in the second quarter of 2023. He noted that high prices in neighbouring countries were reflected in Finland as long as Finland was a net importer of electricity. The start of production in the third unit of the Olkiluoto nuclear power plant and the completion of wind turbines will ease the situation, and in 2023 Finland should be self-sufficient in electricity production, Kuusi said.
