Bill of law ensures the return of the value of electric energy not consumed

    August 8, 2022 - CE Noticias Financieras

Proposal of Representative Daniela do Waguinho contributes to reducing the electricity bill

The electricity bill may be less expensive for Brazilian families, if Bill 1360/2022 is approved by the House of Representatives. The proposal, presented by Federal Representative Daniela do Waguinho (União-RJ), deals with the return, in the form of compensation, of money paid for electricity not consumed.

Currently, power companies charge a minimal fee for the service, even if the monthly consumption is zero. Under the bill, the distributor will be able to refund the amount on the electricity bill within 12 months.

"It is fair that the energy not consumed generates a credit on the remaining bills for those who do not use this minimum. People will be able to benefit in the following months with a reduction in their electricity bill. In difficult times of unemployment and loss of income, every saving is very important," says Federal Representative Daniela do Waguinho

PL 1360/2022 will be examined conclusively by the Committees of Consumer Protection; Mines and Energy; and Constitution and Justice.

Daniela do Waguinho's proposal seeks to reduce the value of the electricity bill.
