Ørsted wants all suppliers to use 100% renewable power by 2025

    August 10, 2022 - SeeNews Renewables

August 10 (Renewables Now) - Danish energy company Ørsted (CPH:ORSTED) will want all its suppliers to use 100% renewable power by 2025, it said today.

As part of its supply chain decarbonisation programme, created in 2020, Ørsted has been working with its strategic suppliers to decarbonise its offshore wind supply chain, asking them to use 100% renewable electricity in the production of wind turbines, foundations, cables, substations, and other components and services by 2025.

It is now extending this expectation to all existing and future suppliers.

The company said that most of the suppliers involved in its supply chain decarbonisation programme have already moved to 100% renewable electricity.

The new ambition supports its 2040 net-zero target. Ørsted also says it is well on its way to reach carbon neutrality in its own energy generation and operations by 2025.

According to group president and chief executive Mads Nipper, a rapid transition to renewable energy is needed to limit global warming and the renewables industry must lead the pack by decarbonising its own supply chain.
