Norway: State has earned NOK 38bn due to extraordinary electricity prices

    August 12, 2022 - M-Brain Nordic News

The Norwegian state has earned an additional income of over NOK 38bn (EUR 3.81bn USD 3.88bn) between 1 January and 19 July 2022 due to the extraordinary electricity prices. The figure is a result of the calculations made by Robert Næss, investment director at bank Nordea, for newspaper VG. He told the newspaper that if one deducts the NOK 11bn that has gone to electricity subsidies so far in 2022, the additional income for the state lands at around NOK 27bn. Næss emphasised that his calculation is an estimate, but that it gives an indication of how much more the politicians have when putting together the next state budget.
