DEME installs substation at Fecamp wind farm offshore France

    August 12, 2022 - SeeNews Renewables

August 12 (Renewables Now) - DEME Offshore said today it has installed the offshore substation for the 497-MW Fecamp offshore wind project in France, using the latest addition to the DEME fleet, next-generation vessel Orion.

Installation of the 1,300-tonne jacket and the 2,200-tonne topside was completed on Thursday.

The wind farm is being developed by EDF Renouvelables, Enbridge Inc (TSE:ENB) and wpd Offshore.

The substation was built by a consortium including Atlantique Offshore Energy, GE Grid Solutions and DEME Group’s French subsidiary SDI. The same team has also been tasked with designing, producing and installing the substations for the Saint-Nazaire and Courseulles-sur-Mer offshore wind farms in France.

DEME installed France’s first offshore substation at the Saint-Nazaire offshore wind farm last year.

The Fecamp project also had its first foundation installed at the start of August. A consortium of Bouygues Travaux Publics, Saipem and Boskalis is building, transporting and installing the wind farm’s gravity foundations.
