ERCOT names Pablo Vegas new chief executive

August 16, 2022 - Hojun Choi, The Dallas Morning News

An energy executive from Ohio will now lead Texas’ main grid operator, the ERCOT board of directors announced Tuesday morning.

Pablo Vegas was named ERCOT’s new CEO, and will be replacing Brad Jones, who has led the organization as its interim-CEO following the February 2021 winter storm, Texas across the state lost power and hundreds of people died.

“Brad was the leader that ERCOT needed during one of its most difficult times and we can’t thank him enough,” said Paul Foster, chairman of the ERCOT Board of Directors.

The ERCOT board voted unanimously to hire Vegas earlier this week. The Public Utility Commission of Texas ratified the board’s vote Tuesday morning.
