Siemens Gamesa will supply 70 MW of wind power following the first renewable energy auctions in the Philippines.

    August 17, 2022 - NS Energy

Siemens Gamesa has received a new order from ACEN CORPORATION, a top renewables developer in Southeast Asia, to provide 14 units of the SG 5.0-145 turbines in the Philippines after the country's initial round of clean power auctions. The awarded 70 MW Capa wind facility, situated in Caparispisan, Ilocos Norte, would be finalized and launched by 1Q 2024. Siemens Gamesa also obtained a deal to provide operation and maintenance services for the wind farm for five years. To date, Siemens Gamesa has deployed 60% of the country's overall wind power capacity. The Philippines concluded the initial round of auctions for around 2000 MW of different renewables projects in Jun 2022, marking a substantial step in developing clean and indigenous sources of power at competitive costs and attracting investments to the renewables industry. It has established an ambitious goal of at least 35% green electricity by 2030 and 50% by 2040 to meet sustainable development, power security, and inclusive growth, and alleviate the effects of climate change.
