Sweden: August 2022 a poor month for southern wind power production

    September 7, 2022 - M-Brain Nordic News

August 2022 was a poor month for wind power in the southern parts of Sweden. Figures from the Nord Pool electricity market exchange show that wind power generation in the Swedish electricity area 4 amounted to 199,346 MWh, which was the lowest month since December 2020. Tomas Hallberg, head of permits at the Swedish Wind Energy Association (Svensk vindenergi), says that the nationwide production was somewhat higher than in previous years, but that the summer months tend to be the worst ones for wind power every year. Meanwhile, Daniel Kulin, head of offshore wind power project development at Norway's Cloudberry, said that even if the wind had been better in August 2022, there is no guarantee that the households would have enjoyed lower prices.
