    Mercury NZ to Invest USD70.5 Million in Kaiwera Downs Stage I Wind Farm in New Zealand

      Mercury NZ Ltd, a New Zealand based power generator and retailer, has agreed to invest NZD115 million in Kaiwera Downs stage I wind farm in the South Island, New Zealand. The total installed capacity of the farm will be 43 MW. The investment per MW will be USD1.6 million

      The 10 turbines to be constructed as part of stage one at Kaiwera Downs was expected to add enough new renewable power to run 20,000 homes or 66,000 electric vehicles (EVs)

      The second part of the construction will complete the 240 MW that had been consented on the site

      Denmark’s Vestas Wind Systems A/S will supply the turbines for the project, Higgins will take over the civil balance of plant (BOP) works, ElectroNet is providing the electrical BOP, while PowerNet will build a new 33-kV line leading to the Gore substation.
