    Pesquería concentrates power generation

    September 19, 2022 - CE Noticias Financieras

One of the flags that the Municipality of Pesquería is displaying to attract investment is that it has 48 percent of all the electric power generation capacity in Nuevo León.

Although 87 percent of the subsoil of its territory still lacks urbanization, the total energy generation capacity of its 10 installed electric plants is 3,906 megawatt-hours, with an investment of 4,93 billion dollars.

The municipality accounts for almost half of the capacity of the 48 generation plants or wind and solar parks in Nuevo León, which together produce 8,114 megawatts.

"Pesquería currently generates 48.14 percent of the energy produced in Nuevo León, although this percentage will decrease to 44.5 percent once another 10 new projects under construction come into operation," said Patricio Lozano Ramos, Mayor of the Municipality.

Once the 10 new projects under construction in the State come into operation, the total electric power generation capacity will increase to 8,785 megawatts.

Despite being an attraction for attracting new investment projects and taking advantage of the global relocation trend, last August, in a meeting with CFE workers in Pesqueria, President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador maintained his offensive against private electricity generators.

According to his data, 90 percent of Nuevo Leon's business sector is supplied by private plants.

But for the Mayor of Pesqueria, electric energy and the fact that all gas pipelines go through his territory is one of the main attractions to attract investments to this Municipality.

Almost half of the total electric power generation capacity in NL is concentrated in the Municipality of Pesquería.
