India's Vikram Solar lands 350-MW module deal for Arizona project

    September 20, 2022 - SeeNews Renewables

September 20 (Renewables Now) - Indian photovoltaic (PV) module maker Vikram Solar Ltd has secured an order to deliver 350 MW of modules for an unspecified project in the US state of Arizona, it said on Monday.

The deal was placed by ”a leading independent power producer” in the US. Specific details about the selected type of equipment to be delivered and the value of the order were not available.

The contract further strengthens Vikram Solar’s presence in the US market, where it now has a consolidated export portfolio of roughly 700 MW across Arizona, Texas and the West Coast.

The Kolkota, West Bengal-based manufacturer noted that demand for India-made solar modules in the US is growing, paving the way for it to enhance its foothold. “We are witnessing the increasing demand for high-quality Indian-made modules in the US aligned to the clarion call of diversifying sourcing policies. Our established presence and experience in the US give us the competitive edge to capitalize on the opportunities," said vice chairman and managing director Gyanesh Chaudhary.

Vikram Solar is one of India’s largest PV module makers, with a cumulative production capacity of 2.5 GW. In addition to its manufacturing activities, it also has a solar engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) business.
