    IDA to provide $50 million for modernization of Kyrgyzstan's electricity sector

      Kyrgyzstan, Sept. 20 -- The Parliament Committee for Budget and Fiscal Policy passed the draft agreement on financing between Kyrgyzstan and the International Development Association on Electricity Sector Modernization and Sustainability Project.

      The IDA will provide $50 million for the project, including $25 million loan and $25 million grant, acting Minister of Energy Talaibek Ibraev said.

      $10 million will be spent for modernization of distribution networks and purchase of transformers.
