    Norway: Demonstration against high electricity prices

      On Monday 19 September, when the Norwegian Parliament debated how to cope with the energy crisis, a demonstration was held outside the Parliament building. The so-called Industriaksjonen.no (the Industry Action) calls for a stop for electricity exports when filling rate of hydropower dams are lower than normal. The action group also requests that hydropower dams are filled up; the introduction of a price cap on electricity for households, businesses and farms; resumed negotiations about exports through the cables to the UK and Germany; and political independence vis-à-vis the EU. The Government will present its proposal for electricity subsidies to businesses and increased support for households to the Parliament on 30 September.
