Nexans signs cable delivery contract for Revolution Wind

    September 22, 2022 - SeeNews Renewables

September 22 (Renewables Now) - French cable maker Nexans SA (EPA:NEX) today said it has finalised a contract to supply the export cable system for the 704-MW Revolution Wind Farm project offshore Rhode Island.

The project, which will deliver power to Connecticut and Rhode Island, is being developed by Denmark’s Ørsted A/S (CPH:ORSTED) and New England utility Eversource Energy (NYSE:ES). It is located some 15 miles (24 km) south of the Rhode Island coast and 32 miles east of the Connecticut coast.

This is Nexans’ second contract with Ørsted and Eversource after an award to install and protect the export cable link for the Revolution Wind Farm, announced in March. It is part of Nexans’ framework agreement to supply Ørsted and Eversource in the US which was signed in December 2019.

According to the announcement, local construction will start in 2023, with the project scheduled to be fully operational in 2025.

Revolution will be the third project to be delivered from Nexans’ Charleston, South Carolina facility, the company also said.
