    Independent consultant ranks Schneider Electric as industry leader in Microgrid and Sustainability technologies

      Schneider Electric, a leader in the digital transformation of energy management and automation, has been recognized by Verdantix as a leader in Microgrids technology, which advances the grid-interactive ecosystem towards decarbonization and sustainability, in the report "Schneider Electric leads the charge on the democratization of energy".

      Increasing the interactivity of installations with the grid is becoming a key driver for decarbonization, as more electric vehicles and more renewables, from grid and on-site generation, become available. Verdantix recommends considering Schneider Electric's microgrid offerings to all companies that need to adapt to a changing energy landscape and want to implement on-site renewable generation and storage as part of corporate decarbonization goals.

      Schneider Electric helps its customers succeed with its Microgrid solutions:

      Flexible energy consumption to reduce costs: companies must reduce their exposure to fluctuating energy prices by taking into account on-site generation and storage. For example, Citycon, a property owner and developer, is developing an urban center with microgrids in Espoo (Finland) in collaboration with Schneider Electric. Schneider Electric and Citycon anticipate that the program will save $352,000 in energy per year, with a 5-year payback along with investment grants for new technologies. More resilience to grid failures: EcoStruxure Microgrid Advisor uses predictive analytics to balance electricity consumption and generation and strengthen resilience. The platform can analyze historical data, weather forecasts, energy market prices and scheduled operations to optimize power flows in the event of grid outages. For example, the U.S. Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in San Diego installed a Schneider Electric microgrid to ensure continuous power supply during rolling grid outages of up to 14 days. Renewable generation and on-site storage for companies' decarbonization goals: Many companies are pursuing Net Zero emissions targets to align with governments. Lidl Finland installed a Schneider Electric microgrid in a 60,000 m2 distribution center. The installation is estimated to reduce energy consumption by 50% and enable 100% renewable energy consumption through on-site generation and clean power purchase agreements. Smarter use of renewable energy and electric vehicle charging to decarbonize operations

      : Governments are introducing a shift to electric vehicles. Montgomery County is deploying a microgrid for electric vehicle charging at the Brookville Smart Energy Bus Depot through an EaaS agreement with Schneider Electric's AlphaStruxure. The microgrid integration will provide reliable charging to a fleet of 44 electric buses, reducing carbon emissions by 62% and allowing the county to maintain bus service even during a power outage.

      Having installed more than 300 microgrids to date, Schneider Electric provides predictive controls and monitoring, comprehensive building automation and de-risks microgrid investment with its Energy as a Service partners, GreenStruxure and AlphaStruxure.
