Russia reported that a water pipeline at the Zaporiyia nuclear power plant was damaged by a projectile.

    September 22, 2022 - CE Noticias Financieras

Russia's Defense Ministry reported Wednesday that a large-caliber projectile had damaged a technical water pipeline at the Zaporiyia nuclear power plant in Ukraine, Russia's state-run RIA news agency reported.

The Zaporiyia nuclear plant was captured by Russian forces in March, remains close to the front line and was repeatedly attacked in recent months, raising fears of a nuclear catastrophe.

Both Ukraine and Russia consistently blame each other for shelling their facilities.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called in recent hours for an immediate halt to shelling in the area of the Zaporiyia nuclear power plant in Ukraine during a telephone conversation with his French counterpart Catherine Colonna.

Lavrov and Colonna discussed the situation in Ukraine and paid particular attention to the importance of ensuring security at the Zaporiyia nuclear power plant, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
