Sweden: Svenska Kraftnät proposes reduction in electricity grid charges

    September 26, 2022 - M-Brain Nordic News

Swedish state-owned company Svenska Kraftnät, which is responsible for the Swedish core network and the electricity system, has proposed a reduction in electricity grid charges by around SEK 11bn (EUR 1.03bn USD 1.03bn) in 2023. The reduction includes both the fixed power charge and the variable energy charge that finances grid losses. Since the middle of 2021, the costs of grid losses have increased sharply due to rising electricity prices. This affects Swedish grid customers, regional grid companies and large electricity producers directly. Lotta Medelius-Bredhe, Director General of Svenska Kraftnät, says although these network charges are paid by regional network operators, end-users such as households and companies will benefit from the reduction.
