    Update: Polish cabinet approves bill on freezing electricity prices for households in 2023 w/ PLN 23 bln price tag

      According to the draft bill, regular households will have their electricity price frozen at the 2022 level up to consumption of 2,000 kWh, households of disabled person will have a higher consumption threshold at 2,600 kWh and households with many children and farmer households will sport an even higher threshold of 3,000 kWh.

      Additionally, households using electricity for heating will receive a PLN 1,500 subsidy, with the maximum spending on that goal from the special purpose fund FPC set at PLN 1.02 bln in 2023, according to the draft bill.

      Poland also expects to shoulder PLN 2.8 bln cost of compensations in 2024-25, the draft bill shows.

      Poland earlier signaled that at least a part of the compensations could be financed from the yet to be coined windfall tax.
