GE wins 218-MW wind turbine order in India

    September 28, 2022 - SeeNews Renewables

September 28 (Renewables Now) - GE Renewable Energy today said it will deliver the turbines for 218.7 MW of wind power projects in the Indian states of Tamil Nadu and Madhya Pradesh.

The orders are from subsidiaries of Continuum Green Energy Ltd, an India-focused renewable energy platform majority-owned by a fund managed by Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Partners. Under them, the General Electric (NYSE:GE) business will supply, install and commission 81 pieces of its 2.7-132 onshore wind turbine. The wind power facilities will provide energy to local businesses and consumers.

The new deal follows agreements last year for GE to supply turbines for Continuum’s 148.5-MW Morjar, Bhuj and 99.9-MW Rajkot wind projects in Gujarat.

“We look forward to furthering our partnership with Continuum in the future as they continue to build out their renewable energy portfolio in India,” Deepak Maloo, regional sales leader for GE Renewable Energy’s Onshore Wind in Asia Pacific, said, adding that over the last year, the company has secured more than 2 GW of orders in India, which makes it one of the largest wind turbine original equipment manufacturer (OEM) suppliers in the country.

GE will make use of its local footprint in executing the assignment, including product design mainly at its technology centre in Bengaluru, blades manufacturing in its plants in Vadodara and assembly at the GE Multi-modal Manufacturing Facility in Pune.
