September 29 (Renewables Now) - Orix Corp USA, the local unit of Japanese financial services group Orix Corp (TYO:8591), announced on Wednesday it has completed an equity investment in a 150-MW wind power plant in Texas.
Comprised of 75 wind turbines, the facility is located near Amarillo and supplies clean electricity to communities in Armstrong and Carson counties and surrounding areas.
The investment, made through Orix USA's Strategic Solutions group, marks the company's entry into the US wind energy sector as well as the platform’s growing focus on renewables.
"Wind energy remains an integral component of the sustainable energy transition, so as we look to further expand our global renewables efforts, this investment is a natural next step,” said Neil Winward, Orix USA’s Strategic Solutions group head.
This move follows Orix USA’s other renewable energy deals such as an equity investment made earlier this year in three anaerobic digestion projects in Iowa and South Dakota.
