Norway: New tax proposed for power companies

    September 29, 2022 - M-Brain Nordic News

A new tax of 23% of an electricity price above NOK 0.70 (EUR 0.07 USD 0.07) per kWh for power companies has been proposed by the Government of Norway. The tax is designed as an excise duty that is calculated hour by hour per price area, with the tax basis limited to sales from power production. It will apply from 28 September 2022 for the largest hydropower plants (with generators with a total output of 10,000 KVA or more), and from 1 January 2023 for other hydropower facilities and wind farms. Micro and mini power plants are not covered by the new scheme.
