Enlight energises 372-MW wind farm in Sweden

    October 3, 2022 - SeeNews Renewables

October 3 (Renewables Now) - Israeli renewables developer Enlight Renewable Energy Ltd (TLV:ENLT) announced today the start of commercial operation of the first out of 60 turbines forming the 372-MW Bjornberget wind farm in Sweden.

The company said in a statement that the wind park has achieved all needed regulatory requirements to gradually begin commercial operations and is already selling power in the Scandinavian market. It expects the entire facility to be energised in the first quarter of 2023.

Bjornberget, which uses 6.2-MW Siemens Gamesa turbines, has a 10-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with “a global leading company” whose name was not unveiled. The contract will become effective once full commissioning is achieved.

At present, Enlight has 1.4 GW of operational plants and 2.3 GW of capacity that is either under construction, pre-construction, or with signed PPAs. Bjornberget is not only the company’s largest operational project to date, but also one of the biggest wind farms in Europe.
