CPS ENERGY CREWS EN ROUTE TO LAKELAND, FLORIDA TO HELP RESTORE POWER FOR CUSTOMERS IMPACTED BY HURRICANE IAN

    October 3, 2022 - ENP Newswire

SAN ANTONIO - CPS Energy crews are leaving Jacksonville, Florida and making the 3.5-hour drive to Lakeland, Florida to support around 26,000 customers who are without power. Crews will be assisting Lakeland's utility, Lakeland Electric, in restoration efforts. Nearly one-fifth of Lakeland's 133,517 electric customers were experiencing an outage as of 8:30 a.m. today.

The CPS Energy storm restoration team includes 35 members with three overhead teams, consisting of six crew members per group, a pole setting crew and 5 members of the fleet and safety team. They are traveling in 17 vehicles comprised of 6 bucket trucks, 3 pole setting trucks and other support equipment.

On September 28, CPS energy crews departed San Antonio in route to Jacksonville to answer a call for mutual assistance from Jacksonville Electric Authority (JEA). Crews have pivoted to help an area greatly impacted by Hurricane Ian, which made landfall Wednesday afternoon as a powerful Category 4 storm.

For updates on restoration efforts, follow CPS Energy on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
