Tokayev discussed nuclear power technologies with world's leading researchers

October 4, 2022 - Interfax Kazakhstan General Newswire

ALMATY. Oct 3 (Interfax-Kazakhstan) - President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with leading scientists from Japan, France, and Russia to discuss the long-term prospects for nuclear power in Kazakhstan.

President of Chiyoda Technol Corporation (Japan) Ataru Inoue, Institut Laue-Langevin Faculty Member Valery Nesvizhevsky, and Director of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (Russia) Grigory Trubnikov exchanged views on the development of nuclear power in Kazakhstan, the use of modern nuclear technologies, and the training of qualified personnel for the industry.

"The representatives of the scientific research institutions have confirmed their readiness to develop close cooperation with Kazakhstan," the president's press office said.

Tokayev noted that Kazakhstan is a global advocate for the peaceful use of atomic energy. Kazakhstan is the world's top producer of natural uranium and operates its own production of nuclear fuel components. The country has scientific institutions and infrastructure to provide scientific and technical support to the nuclear power industry.
