Dhaka, Oct. 3 -- Some six (6) thieves were arrested along with iron pipes stolen from Bangladesh-India Friendship Power Plant at Rampal under Rampal Upazila in Bagerhat district by a contingent of RAB-6, Khulna from a mechanized boat near from a rice mill named Remond Traders under Batiaghata Upazila in Khulna district in the early morning of Saturday, according to a report received here. At that time one thousand 2 hundred 20 kgs iron pipes, a mechanized boat, 09 mobile phones and a motor bike were recovered from their possessions.
The arrested thieves are Md. Kabir Shaikh (42), Md. Babu Shaikh (26), Md. Jabed Shaikh (25), Md. Mohsin Gazi (24) Md. Mikail Shaikh (22) and Md. Abu Horaira Molla (24). They hail from the different places of Dakop Upazila in Khulna district and Rampal Upazila in Bagerhat district.
Bazlur Rahman, Assistant Director (media) of |RAB-6, Khulna told, being informed by a contractor (establishment) of Rampal Power Plant that some 29 iron pipes weighing 1, 220 kgs were stolen from the construction yard of the power plant a contingent of RAB-6 started to raid the different places at the night and at last they recovered the stolen iron pipes and arrested six thieves from Batiaghata area in Khulna district.
The arrested persons were handed over to Rampal PS along with the recovered materials of the power plant after lodging a case with the PS for taking legal action.
Another report states that members of the Ansar Battalion on duty in Bangladesh-India Friendship (Rampal) Power Plant seized 43 GI pipes of the same Power Plant from the bushy lands out side of the gate No.03 of the power plant in the early morning of Saturday.
