The TSXG suspends the construction of a Greenalia wind farm as a precautionary measure

    October 5, 2022 - CE Noticias Financieras

The Superior Court of Justice of Galicia (TSXG) has ordered the precautionary suspension of the development of the wind farm Campelo, projected by the company Greenalia in Santa Comba and Coristanco, in the region of Bergantiños. In its ruling, issued on September 19 and released yesterday, the third section of the Administrative Chamber of the Galician High Court upholds the appeal filed by Adega and the Platform in Defense of the Cantabrian Mountains against the order of the Consello de la Xunta of November 2021 that declared the execution of the project to be of public utility.

Neither the company nor the regional administration, according to the ruling, have been able to support the "imperative need" to have a new wind farm in the area "not even because of the impact that has been producing the reduced inflow of gas due to the war in Ukraine", so it determines the precautionary suspension of the project. Therefore, it determines the precautionary suspension on the understanding that the protection of the environment must prevail.

Greenalia will analyze the ruling to decide the steps to be taken in view of the establishment of the precautionary measures, since it is not final and an appeal for reconsideration is possible. The company defends having complied "scrupulously" with all the procedures established in the current regulations.
