X-ELIO to build 386-MWp solar park in Spain

    October 6, 2022 - SeeNews Renewables

October 6 (Renewables Now) - Spain-based solar energy developer X-ELIO announced on Wednesday it will construct a 386-MWp solar photovoltaic (PV) park in the southern Spanish region of Murcia.

The solar scheme will require EUR 270 million (USD 267.7m) in investments and will be based in the municipality of Lorca.

X-ELIO said it has received a favourable environmental impact statement from the Spanish Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge after the PV project underwent several significant modifications such as including the construction of more than 15 km of the evacuation line underground.

The Lorca solar plant should be able to produce 748,000 MWh during its first year, enough to supply clean electricity to some 215,000 local homes. The facility will offset 148,328 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions.

The renewable energy firm noted it will also develop a series of initiatives to support the local community.
