Baku/18.11.22//Turan: Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said on the plane upon his return from Indonesia that he was discussing with Russian President Vladimir Putin the construction of a nuclear power plant in Sinop, Turkey, similar to Akkuyu. Erdogan expressed hope for the construction of four reactors at the nuclear power plant.
"Once we get them, Turkey will no longer have energy problems. We will be in a much better position. And we can easily start exporting energy," he said.
"Rosatom" is discussing with Turkish businesses the possibility of their participation in the construction project of the new "Sinop" nuclear power plant in Turkey, Alexei Likhachev, head of the state corporation, said in October. The talk is about the formation of approaches in terms of technological alliances, investment policy and the formation of the Turkish energy market, taking into account the future presence of a large nuclear power plant, Likhachev explained.
Now, with the participation of Russia, the first nuclear power plant in Turkey, "Akkuyu", is being built. It is planned that after the commissioning of all four units of the plant with advanced Russian VVER-1200 reactors, it will generate about 35 billion kWh per year and will cover up to 10% of Turkey's electricity needs. The "Akkuyu" NPP is the first project in the global nuclear industry implemented according to the "build-own-operate" model. Construction cost $20 billion -0-
