Vestas extends Taiwanese partnership with Wpd, books 178-MW US order

    November 18, 2022 - SeeNews Renewables

November 18 (Renewables Now) - Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) on Friday unveiled a 21-MW order in Taiwan and one for 178 MW in the US, both concerning onshore projects.

Vestas said that German renewables developer Wpd AG has extended their existing partnership by ordering five V117-4.2 MW turbines with 91.5-metre towers for a couple of projects in Taiwan. This brings Vestas’ total onshore installed volume in the country to above 350 MW, including 130 MW with Wpd.

The Danish company expects to start deliveries to Taiwan in the third quarter of next year so that the wind parks can be commissioned in the final quarter of 2023. The order from Wpd includes a long-term Active Output Management 4000 (AOM 4000) service deal.

Separately, Vestas reported a 178-MW order from an undisclosed customer for a wind project in the US. The contract calls for it to supply and commission 23 V150-4.5 MW turbines, 14 V150-4.2 MW turbines in 4.3 MW operating mode, and four V136-3.45 machines in 3.6 MW operating mode. This order comes with a multi-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement.

Vestas will make the US deliveries in the third quarter of 2023 and commission the turbines in the October-December 2023.
