Sweden/Norway: SeaTwirl wins support call from Swedish Energy Agency

    November 23, 2022 - M-Brain Nordic News

Swedish wind turbine manufacturer SeaTwirl has won a contract from the Swedish Energy Agency (Energimyndigheten) in a call concerning major pilot and demonstration projects for energy and climate transition. This means that the company has been granted SEK 50.40mn (EUR 4.58mn USD 4.74mn) for its S2x floating wind turbine project in Norway, comprising a turbine of 1 MW. The goal of the project is to develop solutions for scaling up the technology to turbines of 10 MW. The Energy Agency states that the SeaTwirl technology enables development of offshore wind power at sea depths of more than 50 metres at a competitive cost. The grant will be paid out on an ongoing basis until February 2026 and in line with the achievement of predetermined milestones in the project.
