EDF Renewables, Enbridge arm EIH, and CPP Investments disclosed that their 480 MW Saint-Nazaire offshore wind plant in France is now working at its 100% capacity. The milestone comes after the deployment of the last turbine of the first commercial-scale French offshore wind plant in Sep 2022. Before this, the facility achieved its initial power in Jun 2022. Situated 12-20 km from the coast of the Guerande peninsula, the Saint-Nazaire offshore wind project would cover 20% of the annual power demands of the Loire-Atlantique department by end-2022. It will deliver electricity for 400,000 homes/y. It would also help France achieve its target of having 32% of its power mix from renewable sources by end-2030. The almost 78 sq km facility is installed with 80 GE Haliade 160-6 MW turbines that were produced in France. Roughly 100 people will continue to work in La Turballe, at the site to help guarantee the operation and maintenance of the wind facility. Original Source: NS Energy, http://www.nsenergybusiness.com.
