FRV gets prelim enviro licence for 300-MW solar project in Brazil

November 30 (Renewables Now) - Madrid-based clean energy developer Fotowatio Renewable Ventures (FRV) said on Wednesday that it has been granted a preliminary environmental licence for the development of a 300-MWac/327-MWp solar park project in Brazil.

The firm plans to build the Complexo Fotovoltaico Banabuiu solar farm in the state of Ceara, northeastern Brazil, in an area spanning 648 hectares (1,601 acres). The plant is expected to be capable of generating about 745 GWh per year, which would be enough to power up to around 407,900 homes in the area.

The Banabuiu project will create over 300 local jobs during construction and save over 93,700 tonnes of CO2 emissions once in operation, the developer said.
