November 30 (Renewables Now) - The joint venture (JV) between French energy group TotalEnergies SE (EPA:TTE) and Japan’s ENEOS Holdings Inc (TYO:5020) has secured a contract to build a 1.8-MWp rooftop solar project in Malaysia.
TotalEnergies ENEOS Renewables Distributed Generation Asia Pte Ltd said on Tuesday it was chosen for this project by French industrial minerals producer Imerys SA (EPA:NK).
The photovoltaic (PV) system will consist of some 3,200 solar panels, capable of generating around 2,450 MWh of clean electricity per year. This will be enough to cover about 10% of the power demand of Imerys' Ipoh facility.
Under the agreement, the Singapore-based JV will fully fund, install and operate the solar system while Imerys will buy the electricity generated over a 25-year period.
TotalEnergies ENEOS is focused on developing B2B solar distributed generation (DG) projects across Asia with a current goal of delivering 2 GW over the next five years.
