December 1 (Renewables Now) - Brazilian energy company Auren Energy has energised the 409-MW Ventos do Piaui II and III Wind Complex in the northeastern states of Piaui and Pernambuco.
Located in the municipalities of Curral Novo do Piaui, Paulistana and Betania do Piaui in the state of Piaui, and Araripina and Ouricuri in Pernambuco, Ventos do Piaui II and III is comprised of 93 wind turbines.
According to an earlier statement by Auren Energia, the company invested a total of BRL 2.1 billion (USD 395.7m/EUR 381.4m) in the wind complex.
Auren Energia emerged from the integration of assets of Brazilian investment holding company Votorantim SA and Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPP Investments).
At present, the company has 3.1 GW of installed capacity, including hydro and wind as well as solar projects under development.
