December 1 (Renewables Now) - US utility-scale solar trackers provider Ideematec Inc announced on Thursday that it has agreed with project developer Solar Proponent LLC to supply equipment for its roughly 7-GW pipeline in Texas.
Presently, Ideematec and its new customer are working with an unnamed engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor to finalise delivery schedules for an initial project in Texas with a capacity of about 650 MW.
The solar developer has chosen the Horizon L:TEC 1P trackers for its projects because of their ability to withstand extreme weather, Ideematec said in a statement.
According to Philipp Klemm, CEO of Ideematec, the company’s tracking technology is ideal for hurricane zones around the Texas Gulf Coast and is proven to suffer zero wind damage in areas with up to 105 mph wind speeds.
Ideematec is the company that equipped the recently-inaugurated 800-MW Al Kharsaah solar plant, located just outside Doha in Qatar.
